I made a big mistake last night by opening the door to step outside to see if my solar anchor light was on. It was, so all good there. But mosquitos must have been queued outside the door and they rushed in for the attack. We killed about a dozen over the next 15 minutes or so. They were big and mean, and their friends were waiting outside on our window screens for another error by this captain. We are fortunate our electronic bug zappers finally got delivered in Port Huron.
It was a totally quiet and beautiful evening. No motion or noise whatsoever. It does appear a big change is coming. There is a high wind warning in effect, and rain and storms are likely, starting this afternoon and evening and tomorrow. Our next stop is planned to be Killarney where we hope to meet up for dinner with the Zumpkers from VYC who have a cottage there.
The first order of business today was to gather all my fishing equipment. It's in at least 3 different areas. I'll had to empty my 5 gallon wash bucket hoping we'll need it to hold all of our fish. After Peter had his extreme cappuccino, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce, off we went.
Within 10 minutes Peter had hooked a nice Northern Pike. At the time we did not know it would be the only fish of the day, but it was. Check out this grin. I did not get any fish, just a couple of little bites on the tail of my minnow lure. We jointly cleaned the fish on Annie's swim platform, then cooked it seasoned with old bay spice on Annie's grill. It was tasty but had a lot of bones so we had to eat very, very carefully.
There is a way to fillet Northern Pike to minimize the bones, I would have to show you. It was 90 here yesterday and 90 is expected today then a cold front is coming through and we will be back in the 70's. you should h
ReplyDeleteWe watched a video on how to do it without bones, but were definitely lacking in the execution!
DeleteGlad you weren’t eaten alive! Annie looks great! Love the pics! Love fish (without bones)! Safe travels!
