After I posted the blog and had coffee I rode to the marina office to see if my Amazon package had arrived yesterday. It had not. When (if?) it arrives, they will keep it here for me to pick up on our way back. I saw Peter on the way back and he accepted my offer of a cappuccino and a powdered white donut. We fooled around with the television for awhile, and then it suddenly came to life as Peter was going through the channels one by one. A auto channel search found 6 channels. Peter's advice is to not turn it off. Later, only 1 of the 6 would work, so maybe it is just atmospheric gremlins messing with me. The picture is great when it works. Fingers crossed. Maybe today will be a good technology day.

The weather looks good for travel today and very nice for tomorrow. We have decided to stay here today so we will travel tomorrow for sure. We will have one night in Bayfield, then move on to Kincardine to arrive on Friday, the day before Canada Day. Bayfield is 50 miles from here, about 6 hours.

Initially this morning it was rather cool and there was a lot of Canadian wildfire smoke. The particulate number was over 300. Over 250 is hazardous. But by 10:00 things had improved. The sun was out and warming the grounds. Kerry made us a nice bowl of cereal with fruit and nuts. We decided to walk to town after breakfast. Kerry looked very yachty and pretty, dressed in white shorts, with a royal blue blouse, and her white Annie hat.

I bought a nice Yeti cup at the hardware store. And they had two blank keys that fit the locks on Annie's doors. For some reason the port and starboard doors have a different key. I came back later and had duplicate keys made. They said the key blanks were listed as Harley Davidson keys. I don't understand that.

As we crossed a street with uneven pavement Kerry tripped and did a faceplant right in the middle of the road. She does not stumble when she falls, she just goes straight down, so there is no opportunity to catch her. She had a big bloody nose and bumps and scrapes on her head and knees. Two gentleman stopped to help and one gave us a ride back to Annie. We were so thankful. She was hurting. I felt really bad for her as she was so discouraged about always hurting herself.

Back at Annie Kerry grabbed an ice pack and took some Tylenol. Peter and Marianna encouraged us to go to the Port Huron Hospital, which is only about 4 blocks away, to get a checkup to be sure there was no damage. Initially we did not agree. But as we thought about it we realized that tomorrow we will be in Bayfield Canada with very limited medical facilities and would be in trouble if a complication developed. Plus Medicare does not pay for treatment outside the US, and any care would be self pay for us. So we decided to seek treatment here as a preventive measure. While all this was going on, with assistance from Marianna, I managed to do two loads of laundry, which was very important to the patient.

Peter went to the marina office and got the two attendants to take us to the hospital ER. The care there was good and relatively fast. Kerry had a CT of the head and had her wrists X-rayed. Her wrists were causing her the most pain. The CT and X-Rays showed no damage. Her wrists are sprained and felt better when they were wrapped with ace bandages.

An attendant from the marina picked us up from the Hospital and delivered us to Annie. And wonder of wonders, he had my missing Amazon package with him which had just arrived. Earlier I had called Amazon about the missing package and they issued a credit to me. Now I will have to call them and say that it arrived.

Peter and Marianna greeted us upon our return. They were very glad we took the precaution to have a medical exam for Kerry. The conversation soon turned to chicken, Like when were we going to go get it. Now was the time we decided, so I placed the order. Before I could leave I had to make a little martini (only 1/2 Big Boy) for Kerry.

It only takes 8 minutes to bike to the Chicken store. Peter had his usual wing dinner and and extra pound of wings. I had the pound of wings and an 8 piece bucket. We ate all the wings and froze the remaining pieces. It is so good!

After dinner we packed up our bikes for the trip tomorrow. We decided that we would leave at 6:00 AM. Peter called the bridge operators and they will open the bridges when we hail them on Channel 9. Once the work was done the captains decided that it was time for our first cigar together of the voyage. We christened the back deck of Voyager for this special occasion.

As we go to bed now, Kerry has a headache and her wrists hurt.  Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow. I suspect that she will be asleep for most of the 6 hours we will be traveling.
