Peter came over for a cappuccino at 9:00. After that we went fishing. We had a big discussion about catch and release, keeping and cleaning, etc. Finally we decided we would just keep the big ones. The mates said they wanted more fish, although we were not sure they were completely sincere. It turns out that the discussion was a little premature as we did not catch anything. We did not even get a bite. We did see some fish in the clear waters, but could not tempt them into biting our lures. We did take some pictures of the boats and the beautiful scenery at this anchorage.
The scenery here is just beautiful to look at with pink granite and gray rocks, green vegetation, and gently sloping grounds. We could imagine a bear and cubs casually walking by, or at least a deer. One interesting rock feature is that some rocks appear to have vein like structures in them. We think that might be because the veiny parts are harder than the main rock, some of which has worn away.
I thought about cleaning my fishing reel this afternoon. Then I decided that was something that could be done while docked, and that I should enjoy this anchorage while we were here. Peter picked us up for dinner on Voyager at 5:20. We had a small miscommunication about dinner plans. We did not realize we were invited for dinner tonight and were having a junk food happy hour on our bow. But we ended up getting a very nice egg salad on pita bread dinner on Voyager so it worked out great for us. Dessert was lemon and peach pies from the Killarney bakery. Yum! We had fun. Our dinners and conversations with the Orros always go 2-4 hours. Peter proudly showed off his double rolling hitch that is still holding on his anchor rode. I told Marianna that if she could not get it off in the morning, I would come by and throw her my machete so she could chop it off.
We plan to go to Gore Bay in the morning. The forecasts are a little inconsistent, so it may be raining with mild winds, or raining with heavier beam winds. We set a default leaving time of 6:30. We'll review the weather at 5:45 and if there is no reason to delay, we will be off early.
I like Gore Bay and its theater. Several years my son Will and I along with 7 grandchildren Chartered a 50 foot Benetau from there and spent a week in North Channel. We had a great time!

Beautiful scenery! Love the blue sky and water! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteMarianna MV/Voyager : Sometimes the morning after recollections of the previous eve’s conversations can be muddied and hence the dinner mix up/ no harm -no foul ❣️
