When I checked the weather forecast this morning I saw that nothing had changed. It was still supposed to be very windy this afternoon, but nice to travel on Monday and Tuesday. We decided to stay in a dock today. With thoughts of returning to the USA on my mind, I updated the CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) Roam app with our new passport information and Annie's new 2023 Customs Sticker. We plan to check in at Presque Isle where last year were denied entry because CBP could not do a video chat with us due to no cell or wifi service. I hope it's changed in a year.

Scott and Carrie on the steel tug left very quietly and early. We'll miss them. They are the kind of people one describes as "the salt of the earth." Carrie said their anchor dragging incident happened at PIB during the 1812 reenactment. They were anchored by the monument. When they dragged they hit a 42' powerboat, a sailboat and then went aground. They had to be evacuated by the Coast Guard from their badly listing boat. It was very traumatic for everyone on board, including their 10 year old nephew. She has horror stories about ladders too. Scott is lucky she cruises with him.

Once the blog was posted, I made some ice, packed up the kayak, filled the water tanks, stowed one fishing pole and then sat on the top deck just soaking in this whole experience. Kerry was up promptly at 11:00 and made a tuna fish salad for us.

We took a walk to the fudgsicle store. This time we got the chocolate raspberry fudgesicle. Very good. It was me who dripped it all over my clothes this time. Kerry did it last time. Then we took a nice walk on a boardwalk that goes across a little marsh near the harbor. We met some local birdwatchers and had a pleasant conversation with them.

We met Marianna in the grocery store. I offered to make Peter a bag of microwave popcorn so she stopped by Annie on her return to Voyager. We had a nice little visit. Kerry showed Marianna her newly organized areas. I showed her Kerry's central vac.

A little sprinkle came through about 4:00. It never got quite as windy as forecasted in the harbor, but someone came in and said that some boats in the anchorage were dragging anchor. I saw someone taking another anchor out to one boat. That made us glad we were at a dock. Apparently it was quite windy out in the channel. A sailor who docked next to us said it was a steady 25 knots.

Cocktails were on Annie's upper deck. We both had martini's in long stemmed glasses. We felt very elegant. It was sunny and breezy and very pleasant. A couple of sailboats came in during our happy hour. We helped them dock and had a nice chat with their crews.

We had a great good ol' USA dinner tonight. I took the air fryer out of the engine compartment for this feast. We cooked Grand Biscuits and Chicken Nuggets. They were so good! The biscuits got treated to butter and honey while the chicken nuggets got dipped in our favorite barbeque sauce. We really enjoyed this simple dinner. I had one nugget left over and saved it for Zeus, our neighbor dog. It was quite the hit. Zeus is a tri-color English Setter.

I invited Peter over for cappuccinos at 9:00 tomorrow. Our plan is to leave at 10:00 for Vidal Bay. Peter went to the fuel dock today and pumped out. We'll need to stop in the morning. The weather looks good for the next 2 days of travel. We are on our own for dinner tomorrow at anchor, so we plan to grill a big steak and baked potato.

Hopefully I will be able to post the blog from Vidal Bay. It's near a big Canadian check in port called Meldrum Bay. Once I get to Presque Isle there may be no internet, so no daily post. Let's hope that has changed.

  2. Well the Indians pulled it off with a 5 to 0 win over Chicago. Civale was great and Ramirez hit two homers and Kwan hit one. They are now only one half game behind the Twins. The bad news is our next 3 games are against a tough Houston team. I hope they are wearing their big boy pants. Marcy is making Summer Spaghetti for dinner, one of my Favorite dishes. I believe Presque Isle does have internet now. KIP
