It was another nice night and morning in Gore Bay. I posted the blog and invited Peter over for his cappuccino. He and Marianna planned to head to Codmother's restaurant for breakfast. Kerry wanted for us to cook bacon and potatoes on the boat for breakfast, so we did.
I walked to the marina store and got the fittings and line necessary to make Donald a real working anchor duck. All that was missing was a weight which we got at the hardware store later, a galvanized pipe plumbing elbow fixture. Kerry is not thrilled with it, but it will do until we find a decorative weight. Here is a picture of how it is rigged. Pretty simple really. A line goes through a loop at the bottom of the duck and is attached to the anchor. The other end of the line has a weight attached. The weight at the end of the line is above the ground and pulls little Donald upright.
We got back in time to watch the cardboard boat races from Voyager who had a front row seat. They were fun. One entrant's boat sunk halfway around the course, so he towed it to the finish line, paddling with one arm. He kept shouting I can make it! The boy in the alligator box was a fan favorite. He could hardly reach the water to paddle as the box was so deep and it ultimately capsized.
Once back at Annie I put little wire ties around the anchor depth marking tape on Annie's anchor chain. I'll be interested in seeing if it will keep the tape from unraveling. If not, I will have to consider painting the markers on.
Jimbo sent a picture of him in his new dingy. He built it from a kit over the winter. He did a beautiful job on it. Today was the maiden voyage. He said it floated on it's water line as designed. It's called "The Kid" after his daughter, Debbie. Next year he plans to build a kayak for Jola. I expected to see Jola in a white dress with a parasol being rowed by Jim.
Peter and I walked to the car show. It was pretty modest so we did not spend much time there. I did speak with Randy from Heart Tug. He is traveling with 3 other tugs. I know he likes to visit Cleary Cove so I wanted to know when that group was going there. The anchorage is small and those 4 tugs and Annie and Voyager might not all fit if other boats were there. He is going to Long Point Cove first, which opens the door for us to go to Cleary Cove on Monday. He says pickerel fishing is great at Long Point.
Dinner was on Voyager where we finished up the remnants from last night's taco dinner. It was just as good tonight, although no margaritas. We finished in plenty of time to walk to the theater for the 7:30 show. The show was called Leudenburg after a city in Nova Scotia. It has three actors, two of which were married. It was a cute comedy and we all enjoyed it. It was written by a local resident.
The music tonight at the marina was loud, really loud. It was impossible to sleep until they finished at 12:30. We were glad we were far away in the permanent dock area as the band was right by the transient boat docks. They played rock in roll music, most of which we were not familiar with, but the crowd hoot and hollered all night long, so they obviously loved it.
Tomorrow will be our 4th day in Gore Bay. We may bike ride, and/or dingy ride. Kerry is cooking beef stroganoff in the slow cooker for dinner. I plan to get the starboard burgundy stripe polished up before I start other activities. I hope I can get fish and chips for lunch. Marianna and Kerry need to be sure we are provisioned for a week at anchor before the end of the day.
We had a calm, beautiful day yesterday topped up with a 1 to nothing victory by the Indians over the Phillies. KIP
ReplyDeleteMarianna MV/Voyager: What a lovely day in Gore Bay. Our dock neighbors are from Little Current - a. Very festive group indeed. After the play, which we enjoyed, we came back and watched sailing videos. After that - I sort of just jammed to the music - it was fabulous and the crowd sang along. Love Gore Bay ❣️
ReplyDeleteLove the large Gore Bay chair pic! Great pics and blog! Also love the Ohio T-shirt! Cardboard box sailing and theater sound fun! Safe travels!
